Dear Newtown Middle School Students and Families,
It is with great excitement that I write to you as the new Assistant Principal at Newtown Middle School. It truly is an honor to have been selected to serve in this position.
For the past thirteen years I have taught 7th and 8th grade social studies at Helen Keller Middle School in Easton, CT. I love the middle school setting and age group. These years are crucial for their adolescent development and being provided the opportunity to partner with you to help your children navigate these important and difficult years will be a privilege. As the Assistant Principal at NMS, I am eager to take what I have learned over the years and mesh it with the great traditions and approaches here in town. I am most looking forward to partnering with you and the dedicated staff to make the year the best for our students.
On a personal level, I am fortunate to have a loving family that provides me much joy in life. My wife, Julianne, is also a middle school educator. We have two children. Rory, our son is three years old and our daughter, Reagan, just turned one over the summer.
My goal this year is to seek to understand Newtown Middle School. I will be asking a lot of questions. My role will be to continue the already great work accomplished here and add value to help the school community progress forward. I am committed to providing challenging and rigorous experiences for students that allow them to make meaningful contributions as global citizens, all within a safe learning environment.
Again, I am so happy to be partnering with great people all around – staff, students, and parents alike that value education so highly. I am beyond excited about my new role as the Assistant Principal and look forward to working together to support our students and make the year enjoyable. It takes a village, and I am proud to be part of your village.
Warmly,
Brian Walsh, Assistant Principal
